Taxpayer Funds for International Abortion, Obama Priority One?

This story is indeed a sad commentary on the principles and values of our new American President.
The article points out the huge gap between Barack Obama's patriotic words and his deadly actions. We are reminded of Orwell's "1984" in which the "Ministry of Truth" was set up to pour new meaning into old and familiar words and phrases.
That Obama would make the funding of abortion around the world one of his first official acts in office is telling indeed. It is ironic that the renewed slaughter will hit hardest in his native Africa, a continent that rejoiced mightily at his elevation.
But it comes as no surprise in light of his spotless record in support of unlimited access to abortion in the United States Senate. Obama opposes even the mildest restrictions on the barbarity. That Americans would elevate such a murderous man to the Presidency on the basis of his promises for economic recovery is also telling.
The article cites polling results showing 74% of Americans opposed to most abortion. But the right to life is trumped by pocket book issues in the minds of a majority, or Obama would not now occupy the Oval Office. Thus, Americans get the leadership they deserve and the judgment that will surely follow.
The words of the prophet Isaiah are as applicable in America today as they were in ancient Judah:
"And I will make mere lads their princes And capricious children will rule over them, And the people will be oppressed, Each one by another, and each one by his neighbor; The youth will storm against the elder, And the inferior against the honorable."
As insightful as the article is, it fails miserably to identify the root of the problem. It points out that "America's founding cornerstone document is our Declaration of Independence, upon which all else rests and which unequivocally states, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life...."
In the first place, calling the Declaration rather than the Constitution our founding document is debatable. The Declaration declared America's separation from Great Britain, but did not establish a new government.
Be that as it may, the inevitable Conservative tendency to rest our liberties on this (or any) man made document other than the Bible is the direct cause of our current predicament. The basis of governing authority upheld by the Declaration is "self-evident" "truth." This is truth derived from the law of nature or the autonomous mind of man, not from the Bible.
A few references to God do not erase this fundamental fact. According to the Declaration, the "just power" of government is derived not from God, but rather from "the consent of the governed."
Moreover, the highest ideal of the Declaration is the rights of man, not the glory of God, or submission to His law. Thus, the document is man-centered at its core -- the best we might expect from a humanist like Jefferson.
Thus, this document is more than a Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. It is more fundamentally a Declaration of Independence from God. The mutiny of the Declaration was confirmed some 11 years later when the U.S. Constitution forbade any religious test for any "office or public trust under these United States." A religious test oath is the fundamental biblical requirement for public office.
And so, it was inevitable that we should arrive at such a day as this in America. It was inevitable that a God-rejecting leader like Obama would arise to personify the God-rejecting documents on which this nation was founded.
