Independence Day

by Ted Weiland
(Scottsbluff, Nebraska)

Greetings in the name of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!

Today, on July 4, 2009, otherwise known as Independence Day, I cannot help but wonder if you feel free?

This weekend, you will probably receive from Christian ministries and patriotic organizations alike a number of emails honoring Independence Day and with it the United States Constitution. With some of these same emails, there will be a plea for us to honor our nation by praying for her in obedience to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

I only wish that prayer for our nation were all that is required, but, obviously, it is not or our land would have been healed long ago. Consider again 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Prayer is indeed required. But without repentance, prayer alone cannot get us even to the throne of God:

"Behold, Yahweh's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." (Isaiah 59:1-2).

We need to repent not only of our own sins, but also of those visited upon this nation by our American forbears, beginning with the framers of the idolatrous, anti-Christian, polytheistic United States Constitution. As difficult as it may be for many people to accept (especially with so many Christians touting it as a Christian document and its framers as wonderful Christians), the U.S. Constitution is at the root of everything abominable in America today.

If you do not believe me, please take the time to read Bible Law vs. The United States Constitution: The Christian Perspective. You will find the Preface through Chapter 8 currently posted. Lord willing, Chapter 9 (arguably the most important chapter of the entire book), which addresses the U.S. Constitution's antichristian Article 6, will be posted in the next couple of weeks.

If you prefer listening to reading, I recommend the audio series Bible Law vs. Constitutionalism, in which the entire Constitution, article by article and amendment by amendment, is compared with Yahweh?s perfect laws (Psalm 19:7-9).

For those who have already listened to the audio series or who have read the online chapters of the book, and who find yourself in agreement, please forward this email to your family and friends. Until we address our national idol, we will never win the culture wars, and Christians will continue to live under the boot of non-Christians and even anti-christs (Matthew 5:13).

If I can be of service to you in some other fashion, please feel free to contact me.

Serving the KING of kings,
Ted R. Weiland
