Hispanic Immigration vs. Muslim Immigration

Larry Perrault makes a good point in his commentary on Muslim and Hispanic demographics in the “Texas GOP Vote.”
Americans obsess about illegal Hispanic immigration even though Hispanics, as Roman Catholics, share many of our same Christian values. Meantime, resistance to Muslim immigration is unorganized where it exists at all, although the Muslim religion is a deadly threat to American values and freedom. There is a 7-minute video on the site about the alarming rate at which Islam is gaining control through its accelerated birth rate.
While legal and orderly immigration is essential, we should focus more on winning the hearts and cooperation of Hispanics currently in the country. “Only in cooperation with a Hispanic population that understands the value of American principles of freedom, can we have any chance of withstanding the spread of Islam,” Perrault explains, “The problem is the anti-democratic and anti-Liberty nature of the Muslim faith.”
The point is well-taken. Open-borders, restricted-citizenship is the Biblical approach to immigration. Strangers, or resident aliens, were welcome in ancient Israel and were actually extremely well-protected under Biblical law. They were to be afforded the same kind treatment as “widows and orphans” and were guaranteed equal protection under the law. There were severe penalties for Israelites who mistreated them in any way.
We have an example in the Book of Ruth, where Naomi and Ruth traveled freely between Moab and Israel. There were no customs checks or immigration quotas.
Americans probably wouldn’t put up such a fuss if their government weren’t so liberal in handing out welfare goodies to Illegal Hispanic immigrants. For example, voters tried to put the brakes on welfare for illegal immigrants in California only to have the state supreme court overturn their initiative. It is no wonder that the level of frustration is running at such a fever pitch.
Meantime, while Americans are looking the other way, Muslim immigration continues apace and their numbers swell from within. “Europe is toast, as a Christian and free society,” Perrault observes, “Canada is headed in the same direction.” The point of the video link to the article is that America is not far behind.
All of this is part of the curse that God promises for a nation that forsakes His law. “The alien who is among you shall rise above you higher and higher, but you shall go down lower and lower…The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth….” (Dt. 28:43). Ironically, it is descendants of the same nation that God brought upon Israel “from afar” (Babylon) that He is now bringing against America.
The only solution is found in the following chapter (Dt. 29: 9) where God exhorts the children of Israel to “keep the words of this covenant to do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.” It is the tragedy of this commentary that Perrault counsels the exact opposite.
He calls for a return to the covenant-breaking principles of the United States Constitution as the solution to our woes. “We must raise up and uphold those values in our society and invite Muslims to join in them," says Perrault.
The values he is asking us to embrace are those of a Constitution that makes itself, not the Bible, “the supreme law of the land.” They are the values of a Constitution that enshrines “we the people” as the source of governing authority, telling God in effect to take a hike. They are the values of a Constitution that elevates any and all religions to a place of equality with the Bible (First Amendment).
A return to these values can only serve to give us more of the same bitter fruit. We will continue to drink the cup of God’s wrath until we go the way of all nations who presume to usurp the governing authority of God.
