No, "putting all religions ... on equal footing" was not necessarily their intent, but it was knowingly included and provided for in the First Amendment. Again, this is documented in "Amendment 1: Government-Sanctioned Polytheism" Chapter 11 of "Bible Law vs. The United States Constitution" at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/biblelaw-constitutionalism-pt11.php.
Thank you for being willing to check these extremely important issues out and to look beyond what is RC (religiously correct) at this time in which Yahweh has chosen us to live and serve Him!

Response to Ted by: Greg
Greetings, Ted
I've been reading your website which is hard to just peruse. It takes me a while to respond because of all my obligations. Also, I've been reading some others on this topic of the establishment clause.
When you say "Mixed Bag", do you mean that the intent of the first amendment was to circumvent a national church & put all other religions including Christianity on equal footing? I'll keep reading & decide. Thank you for all your hard work in researching this topic. It's fascinating.

Dear Greg,
What you have said about the establishment clause, the word "denomination," and even David Barton is a mixed bag.
Please read "Amendment 1: Government-Sanctioned Polytheism" Chapter 11 of "Bible Law vs. The United States Constitution" at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/biblelaw-constitutionalism-pt11.php, in which I address all of this, including proving from Barton's "Original Intent" that Barton himself would not entirely agree with your statements.
If you would, please peruse that chapter and get back to me on this forum. I would very much like to interact with you briefly on this important issue.
Blessings, Ted R. Weiland

It's probably on the Wallbuilders website. I'll look it up later or tomorrow. Maybe you can check it out too. Regards, Greg

Evidence: Did Founders Mean Religion or Denomination by: Dennis
Good point, Greg. Do you have any evidence pointing to what the founders meant by the phrase "establishment of religion?"

The first amendment by: Anonymous
The establishment clause ("Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."?)
According to David Barton The word "Religion" in this sentence should mean "denomination". Evidently, this was the thinking of the Founders in using that term so as not to establish a national church. The term has been reinterpreted to embrace polytheism.
If this is the case then the founders should have made some distinction so there would be no wiggle room. Also, this website's suggestion of a Christian Preamble with the adoption of the Mass. Bay Colony on the Religious Test qualification would have been helpful.
