Democracy and the Rights of the States

by Tony Renshaw
(Alabama)

Is it correct to say that according to a certain article in the Constitution that it does not allow for the uSA to be a democracy. That is, since the correct term is a Representative Republic operating under the laws of the Constitution. After all most democracies usually fail, is that not true.

Also the Constitution does not contain wording "Seperation of Church and State" and if it does where do you find it. I understand about the letter mailed out by Thomas Jefferson concerning the wall of seperation between church and state. However, this has nothing to do with the seperation of church and state under the constitution. As you know, many letters that were written by the founders ended or began with words "In the Year of our Lord" and many "WERE" believers in the word of God.

Also I am a firm believer that the south had a perfect right to seceed from the union when they did, what do you say. Be specificate because if one read the anti federalist and federalist papers all would understand that any state could seceed from the union. After all who would want to be commited to a union that they could never leave. If you then say that the Articles of Confederation was a pepetual union and they were commited to that... how did each of the states seceed from it to take on the constitution. And this had to be what each of them did since North Carolina and Road Island (I believe) became foreign countries? Also if read the ratification documents from states like New York and Virginia they spell out the right to seceed if it becomes necessary.

Therefore, what was all the killing over in what has been called by many a civil war.....when in truth it was an unconstitutional invasion of the Confederate States of America. A country independant of the uSA operating with it's own government a President, a Congress, a Senate and it's own constitution, which by the way disallowed additional slaves to be brought into the south.

slavery was not the cause of that Invasion it was a take over of the federal government by the radical republicans with Lincoln as their leader. Today you can see the results of that take over....Now it is being done by the Democrats and not the Republicans.
