Historical Examples of Christian Constitution by: DW
Charlemagne and Alfred the Great were early attempts, with Alfred probably the most faithful to the Bible. Alfred's efforts were largely erased by the Norman invasion at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and introduction of the common law by Henry II. Magna Charta is not really an appeal to the Bible.
Justinian's Code had a big influence on law throughout the European continent, but it was far more influenced by natural law than Bible law.
Probably the best examples were charters of the early American colonies, notably the Massachusett's Body of Liberties, in which specific laws are cross referenced to the Pentateuch. This and other colonial covenants were nullified by the secularizing Constitution of 1787.
