American Patriotism Has Replaced
Our Devotion To The Law Of God

In their devotion to American patriotism, the "American Christian history experts" are like modern-day Samaritans. Samaria you may recall, was founded by the bad king Omri, the fifth king of Israel under the divided kingdom.

Modern-Day Samaritans

Omri was notorious for replacing the law of God with his own manmade law. God indicted Israel through the prophet Micah with these words: "The statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab are observed" (Micah 6:16). At the same time, “…the law is ignored and justice is never upheld” (Hab. 1:4).

The latter history of Samaria is related in the last half of II Kings 17. After Israel was carried into captivity, the Assyrian king imported foreigners from Babylon and elsewhere to occupy Samaria. God sent lions among them, so they appealed to the king to send them an Israelite priest to teach them "the custom of the god of the land" (II Kg 17:26).

As a consequence, "They feared the Lord and served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from among whom they had been carried away into exile" (II Kg. 17:33). The "American Christian history experts" are similar. They fear the Lord, and they serve the god of American patriotism and the idol of the United States Constitution.

To Fear Or Not To Fear

There is a strange paradox in the next verse (v. 34) that describes the "American Christian history experts" quite well. Even though they fear the Lord, "to this day they do according to the earlier customs" and consequently "they do not fear the Lord."

Huh? How can they fear the Lord and not fear the Lord at the same time? Because the verse continues, they do not "follow the statutes or the ordinances or the law, or the commandments which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob."

They can cite Supreme Court cases until you are blue in the face and some are even Professors of Constitutional Law. Even more impressive, some even bear the auspicious title of "Constitutional Attorney." They are driven by American patriotism.

But how many of them can explain the requirements of The Book of The Covenant in Exodus 21-24? How many of them even believe that we should seek to apply the Biblical judicial law in the New Testament era? A few, but not many.

Almost all concur with Jefferson that to require an oath to enforce the Biblical case law is "religious tyranny." For proof of that ask yourself why virtually none of them ever object to the Constitution's prohibition of the religious test oath in Article VI, Section 3. They almost always ignore it, excuse it, or in some cases approve of it.

They may profess to follow the law of God, of course. But when you look at what they are actually doing they are serving the "custom of the nation" (v. 33) whose god is the United States Constitution. The Constitution rejects Biblical law, making "the statutes of Omri" the "supreme law of the land."

The Best Thing Yet -- Really?

Some will tell you that "our flawed Constitution is the best thing in history so far", so let's just wait until God gives us a majority before we do anything with it. In the first place why would God give us a majority of anything when we are engaged in the worship of an idol -- the idol of American patriotism and Constitutional law?

BACK TALK
In the second place, how can anything that rejects the Bible as the "supreme law of the land" be the "best thing in history so far?" Will God ever favor us with a majority when we insist on calling the very act of collectively slapping Him in the face "our Christian heritage?"

Gary DeMar, Peter Marshall, David Barton, John Eidsmoe and Stephen McDowell -- to name just a few of the experts – are doing a grave disservice to the American church. As it stands, they are misleading American Christians down a path of national destruction.

This is not just a question of "agreeing to disagree." It is a question of serving God or serving an idol: American patriotism in place of love for the law of God (Ps. 119). It is a question of national curse or national blessing.

Who among us can ever pretend to serve God at the standard of holiness that He deserves and demands? Because of the work of Christ, God accepts and is pleased with our feeble efforts to serve Him.

The repentant kings of Judah always destroyed the national idols, but there was usually a "but..." "But the high places were not taken away..." (II Kg. 14:4, 15:4, 15:35).

But God honored their sincere action, nonetheless. So let us do our best to put away our idols, even the "high places" of excessive devotion to American patriotism and Constitutional law.

3-Step "Dog Catcher" Strategy For Cultural Renewal:
  1. Consider running for "Dog Catcher"
  2. Consider signing Petition to Amend the Preamble
  3. Study training materials
